Materials Control Manager

Materials Control Manager for durable medical goods company located in the Irvine, CA area. 

 

This is a Temporary to Hire opportunity, salary to $60K/year, depending on experience.  This position reports to the CEO.

 

Responsibilities:

This individual will oversee all materials control functions, including warehousing, shipping, purchasing, and receiving.  The warehouse is a single location with approximately 200 products.  No manufacturing is involved.  The warehouse is a distribution center.

This position will be responsible for overseeing a warehouse manager and a purchasing assistant (part time).  Reporting to the warehouse manager are approximately 10 employees who receive, stock, and ship orders.

Company works with a complete integrated purchasing and inventory control system.  Inventory is perpetual and all receipts are pursuant to executed purchase orders.

The company works with approximately 15 vendors who provide all 200 products. 

 

Requirements:

Ability to manage staff and work with other departments.

Ability to work as purchasing agent and negotiate terms under the guidelines of the CEO

Computer skills must include Word, Excel, and preferably ACCPAC or similar accounting system.

Focus on details when necessary

Written and oral communication skills essential

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Review product activity and forecasts to determine purchasing requirements
  • Place required purchase orders
  • Update Supplier files, minimum order quantities, lead times, minimum stocking requirements etc.
  • Review outstanding purchase orders and cancel or modify if required
  • Set up Standing and recurring Purchase orders and create specific orders as needed
  • Plan and supervise cycle counts and other physical inventories
  • Set up and modify Product codes in computer system
  • Meet with Warehouse manager and review status of on-hand and incoming purchases.
  • Other projects as directed by CEO

Experience:

  • At least 5 years as purchasing agent
  • Experience as Warehouse manager or supervisory experience of this function

Pension Analyst

The Dallas office is looking for bright, motivated candidates to join our defined benefits administration practice as an entry-level Pension Analyst. The ideal candidate will be a new or recent graduate with a degree in Mathematics, Statistics or other analytical field.

The Pension Analyst works in a team environment (currently have 15 ee's in this area) and is responsible for the operational tasks associated with servicing defined benefit pension plans in compliance with the plan’s provisions and administrative policies.  This includes, but is not limited to, performing benefit calculations, establishing payment records, creating participant statements, and maintaining participant data.

The Pension Analyst will interact within their team and with other teams (possibly across office locations) with a modest amount of interaction with the client.  Minimal travel is anticipated.

The Pension Analyst in our practice has several responsibilities including the following:

  • Research participant records for internal and external information requests
  • Prepare written communications for participant inquiries
  • Review and provide fulfillment of participant communications
  • Adhere to the calculation process for individual and batch calculation requests
  • Process and review manual calculations and ensure accuracy of system generated calculations
  • Provide support for special projects and other tasks as needed
  • Maintain and update administrative procedures
  • Read and comprehend plan provisions from plan documents, summaries of plan provisions or other related plan materials

    • Supervise the performance and service delivery of Benefits Service Center retirement plan generalists, specialists and team leaders.  Maintain employee and department records.
    • Evaluate employee performance, providing coaching, instruction and feedback for improvement.  Conduct performance reviews. 
    • Facilitate investigations of participant and client complaints.  Follow through to ensure proper resolution.  Report results.
    • Take corrective action with employees and processes when necessary up to and including termination.
    • Facilitate the selection process for new BSC Employees.  Make hiring decisions.
    • Design and implement recognition programs for call center employees.
    • Identify process improvement opportunities, recommending and implementing improvements where possible.
    • Identify training needs and coordinate training solutions.
    • Assist in scheduling employees, ensuring staffing needs are met.  Make adjustments when necessary.

    EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION REQUIRED

    • A minimum of 3 years previous supervisory experience in a retirement plan administration department or call center operation including responsibility for employee development, performance evaluation, process improvement, procedure development and handling escalation processes.
