Job Title: PURCHASING AGENT

Supervisor: Operations Supervisor

Job Purpose: To procure commodities and perform miscellaneous clerical duties

Summarize and list the essential functions performed in this job:

1. Procures materials, components, supplies and equipment at a favorable cost; consistent with quality

schedule and in compliance with company policy and procedures concerning purchasing.

2. Investigate and recommend sources for supplies at effective cost savings.

3. Provide clerical assistance, data entry and expedite orders. Communicate effectively regarding issues

affecting production schedules.

4. Interfaces with various departments as required to solve problems.

5. Must be able to maintain documentation necessary

List the minimum qualifications and background required to fill this position:

1. Educational Background: High School Diploma or equivalent plus two (2) years of college education.

Continuing education in the purchasing field required.

2. Work Experience: Five (5) years experience in handling assigned commodities (a college degree may be

substituted for two (2) years of experience). Working knowledge of purchasing procedures.

3. Specific Skills: Ability to deal with people inside and outside the company as a professional. Must

demonstrate good negotiating skills and communication skills, show initiative, be organized, detail oriented

and creative. Computer experience required. Must be able to read and interpret blue prints.

Position requires knowledge of materials and fabrication processes.
