JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR – MECHANICAL
Supervisor: Operations/Support Services Manager
Job Purpose: Ensure product meets PSSH's quality standards through the inspection of
non-destructive testing of received goods, work in process and finished goods. Maintain
documentation and record keeping.
Summarize and list the essential functions performed in this job:
1. Verify incoming electrical/mechanical components, raw materials, sub assemblies, and
documentation in accordance with purchase orders, drawings, and test and materials
specifications. Interface with Purchasing, Receiving, and the Engineering Department as
required to resolve problems.
2. Perform dimensional inspection of in process weldments, machined parts and mechanical
subassemblies in accordance with assembly drawings and test procedures. Interface with
Production Supervisors and the Engineering Department to resolve problems during
production and promote engineering changes when required.
3. Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) an examination of welded parts and assemblies in
accordance with PSSH Quality Standards.
3. Support Production test requirements and verify assembly and operation of all completed
assemblies in accordance with drawings and engineering test specifications. Report all
nonconformities and record test results.
4. Maintain Serial Number Logs, Quality Control databases and complete documentation of all
system testing and assembly.
5. Responsible for the Test and Measurement equipment maintenance and calibration.
6. Other tasks which may fall within expertise and knowledge.
Minimum qualifications and background required:
1. Educational Background: High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) year associates
or technical electronics degree or equivalent work experience.
2. Work Experience: Five (5) years experience in manufacturing. Two (2) years of quality
control experience. Dimensional and Weld NDT inspection experience is preferred.
3. Specific Skills: Must be able to read drawings, electrical and hydraulic schematics and
operate all mechanical measurement and test equipment. Should be familiar with the
interpretation of ASTM Standards. Dimensional Inspection, Dye Pen and Mag-particle
certification is preferred. Computer literate. Yearly eye exam required. Must be able to
work independently, accurately and be well organized. Some travel may be required.
