Survey Salesperson

 

OVERALL PURPOSE

Meet or exceed sales objectives of assigned territory by promoting and selling surveying instruments through professional sales techniques, product service, and long-term customer relationships.

 

MAJOR ACTIVITIES

·         Meet and exceed sales targets; achieve maximum sales in assigned territory.

·         Make at least 25 quality sales calls each week.

·         Target A, B, and C accounts by present and potential dollars of revenues/profits, cost to sell and service, and probability of success.

·         Allocate time and call frequency based on A, B, and C targeting.

·         Make the appropriate number of calls on prospects versus customers. Identify potential growth areas, and open new accounts.

·         Increase market share by calling on a large universe of diverse private firms to promote and sell surveying instruments, communicate special  programs, present marketing/advertising programs and new products, handle and process warranties, prepare and conduct customer training and educational seminars, collect competitive information, handle and resolve problems and complaints, and collect overdue receivables. Advise  management on market conditions and account status.

·         Increase market share by calling on a large universe of public accounts to sell surveying instruments, communicate special programs, conduct educational seminars, handle and resolve problems and complaints including credit issues. Advise management of market conditions and account status.

·         Sell all products but concentrate on high performance instruments and value added selling.

·         Prepare written presentations, reports, and price quotations.

·         Sell at transaction price approved for this type of customer.

·         Negotiate delivery, availability, warranty, advertising, and pricing for discontinued items. Follow up on back orders.

·         Maintain accounts receivables in compliance with objectives.

·         Conduct customer education and product information meetings.

·         Continually learn new product knowledge and acquire better selling skills.

·         Keep abreast of competition, competitive issues, products, and markets for surveying instruments.

·         Attend and participate in sales meetings, product seminars, and trade shows.

Create customer sales programs.

 

TIME MANAGEMENT

·         Work a 50-hour, five-day week.

·         Do necessary overnight travel.

·         See first customer by 8:00 a.m.

·         See last customer at 3:00 p.m.

·         Utilize laptops and cellular phones.

·         Maximize percent of time in front of customers.

·         Minimize travel time.

·         Use customer service reps for follow-up and smaller accounts.

·         Call on accounts in clusters.

·         Work one section of territory each day.

·         Use loops and cloverleaves.

 

SELF-ORGANIZATION

·         Plan each day, week, and month.

·         Plan each call.

·         Keep sales aids in mint condition.

·         Dress neatly.

·         Maintain a neat automobile.

·         Present professional image.

·         After each call fill in customer profile and daily planner.

 

ADMINISTRATIVE

·         Maintain customer profiles and customer files.

·         Submit the following in a timely manner: daily planner/call reports, sales plans, forecasts, expense reports.

·         Communicate competitive information to corporate marketing.

·         Complete and submit credit applications for new accounts.

·         Use information technology to save time.

·         Analyzing/monitoring data and reports.

 

COMPANY RELATIONS

·         Comply with all company policies and operate within the expense budget.

·         Work with, develop positive relationships with, communicate with, and coordinate activities with other employees in marketing, customer service, distribution, credit, accounting, human resources, service department, as well as outside finance organizations.

·         Communicate effectively; cooperate with your fellow salespeople and management.

 

Compensation package will consist of the following:

 

Territory

·         All counties within the state of Nevada.

 

Base Salary

·         $ 600.00 per week.

 

Commission

·         The monthly commission is 4% of revenue you are responsible for producing over and above $10,500 monthly.

·         Commission is paid on the last pay period of the following month. Monthly commission plan will be reevaluated January 1 of each year.

 

Bonus

·         Monthly, you will be paid an additional 2% on revenue over $45,000.

·         This target bonus will be re?evaluated January 1 of each year.

 

Expenses

·         Company will provide monthly expense reimbursement for all legitimate and approved business expenses.

·         Approved expenses include vehicle (business miles @ $0.40/mile up to $1080 monthly), lodging, parking, meals with business, meals on overnight travel, and airfare.

·         Expenses for a given month must be submitted to management no earlier than the 25th of the current month and no later than the 5th of the following month and will be paid approximately 10 days after being submitted.

·         The employee is expected to supply the financial means to cover normal expenses between reimbursements.

·         Expenses over $500 and special reimbursements must be approved by management before the expense is incurred.

 

Supplied Business Tools

·         Company will provide a laptop computer, standard cell phone, business cards, demonstration equipment, and marketing materials.

 

Required Employee Supplied Items

·         The employee will provide a clean and reliable vehicle appropriate for travel, job site visits, and cold calling.

 

401K Plan

·         Company offers a 401K plan, which you will be eligible to contribute to after your initial 90?day introductory period.

·         New employees are eligible to roll existing 401k investments into the Company plan immediately upon joining the company.

·         We also offer optional company profit sharing based on annual profits.

·         100% vesting on employer matching funds is reached after the employee’s 6th anniversary.

 

Medical

·         Following a 90 day introductory period, Company will pay 75% of the employee’s monthly premium, and 50% of the spouse/dependant premium (as applicable).

 

Holidays/Paid Time Off (PTO)

·         Following a 90?day introductory period, Company offers 48?hours of PTO during the 1st year available as accrued.

·         During the 2nd to 4th year we will provide 104?hours of PTO time available as accrued.

·         Employees are not eligible for holiday pay until after the initial 90?day introductory period.

 

NonCompete Agreement

·         Company requires all new sales representatives to complete and sign a non?compete agreement for sales in the surveying, construction, or industrial industry within CA, AZ, NM, & NV.
